Mateusz Wrazidlo is a Silesian engineer, photographer, author and, above all, an avid naturalist.
Born in 1993 in Rydultowy in Upper Silesia, Poland, he has co-organised and participated in numerous expeditions to Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Borneo and Svalbard, among many others. The Guiana Shield remains his primary field of focus for research and photography.
He combines Silesian engineering traditions with a deep passion for the natural world. Since his early childhood, he has nurtured a keen interest in botany, with a particular focus on the montane flora of the Guiana Highlands. He has expanded his knowledge of the plant world by combining practical experience growing demanding species in his conservatory with fieldwork in their natural environments. His contributions to botany and biogeography have been published in multiple scientific journals and magazines.
Mateusz is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, the Linnean Society of London and the Explorers Club.

Exploring the world serves little purpose if the results are not disseminated and shared with others. I firmly believe that in order to inspire curiosity and expand the understanding of the natural world each and every scientist, photographer or explorer, no matter which field he or she specializes in, has to become a storyteller. Storytelling has a special power - a power to inspire, to intrigue and to motivate. It is a bridge between the world of research and the general public.
I have presented my works and shared my experiences during numerous public events, lectures and exhibitions. No matter whether it’s a festival with thousands of listeners, or a private talk in a secluded mountain hut - I always do my best to spread the spark of curiosity and appreciation towards the natural world!
